Judy Zeringue, MAPL, BSN, RN, RTSCBC, CPLC, CHPPN has served 45 years as a pediatric nurse at Children's Hospital of New Orleans, now called Manning Family Children's LCMC Health. Over the years, I have continued to grow professionally and develop greater compassion and love for pediatric nursing. I completed my BSN from Loyola University in New Orleans. In response to a deeper call, attending Notre Dame Seminary I completed a Masters in Pastoral Leadership as well as a two-year formation program as a Lay Ecclesial Minister. Serving with our Palliative Care team, the Pelican Krewe was a meaningful experience to serve with this team for three years as Nurse Navigator / Spiritual Care. Through a lens of nursing and spiritual care, I was able to follow a passion which continues in my heart. During this time, I also served on the editorial board for LMHPCO- Louisiana Mississippi Hospice and Palliative Care Organization e-JOURNAL. As a member of the education committee for LMHPCO and the Bereavement Committee. I am a member of the GSPPCC- Gulf States Pediatric Palliative Care Consortium, and serve as Chair for the Networking, Peer Support and Resilience Committee.
As a Nurse Navigator for our Urology Team, I continue to serve as a Palliative Care Champion. Inspired and honored to serve on the e-Journal Workgroup for the National Alliance for Care at Home. The author of articles on Pediatric Palliative Care, Grief and Bereavement Resources, Self Care and Resiliency, Spiritual Care perspectives and resources to further education and knowledge for care providers. Honored to co-Author of chapter, "Pediatric Spiritual Assessment and Care," in the Oxford Textbook of Palliative Care Nursing 6th Edition.
Sharing great compassion to care for those in need and promoting Pediatric Palliative Care, Bereavement Support is a mission I strive to continue and promote. It is an honor to become a Pediatric Guest Editor for Hospice and Palliative Care Today!
