The walk on 8 March will take participants from the charity's hospice in Winsley, Wiltshire, to Bath Pavillion in Somerset. Dan Varley, community and events fundraiser, said the walk can be really "powerful" for men who have experienced bereavement.

Over the years, not only has this World War II veteran offered tireless support to the Hospice program, but he’s also responsible for raising nearly $100,000. Melro highlighted the design of the patient rooms: "We tried to make them oversize so that family could gather here and stay with the patient as needed. Every year in early January, volunteers give their time to collect Christmas trees from all around the island in exchange for a small charity donation. 2000 trees were collected in the 2025 new year period, which were taken to the green waste team at La Collette and converted into soil improver for Jersey farms and gardeners. The £45,000 raised in the annual tree collection and recycling project will cover a month's worth of care in the hospice's in-patient unit.

"Since the partnership began in 2002 with a $600 grant, the program has expanded significantly, reaching hundreds of patients and their families each year," the Visiting Nurses Foundation said in a news release. Comfort therapies — including acupuncture, massage, music therapy, guided imagery and animal-assisted therapy — are proven to reduce pain, foster relaxation and enhance overall quality of life, the news release stated.
